What kind of camera system should I install at my home?

For many homes, a hardwired PoE camera system with a local network video recorder is a good starting point. One Ethernet cable carries power and video to each camera. We choose equipment around the views you need, available cable routes, and recording requirements. Local recording can avoid cloud storage fees; optional remote services or live monitoring may have separate charges.

Do I need cameras at every entry point?

At a minimum, you want coverage on every ground-floor door and the driveway. From there, we look at gates, side yards, garages, and any blind spots created by landscaping or architecture. Placement matters more than camera count — we walk the property before quoting.

Can I view my cameras from my phone?

Yes, when the selected system supports remote viewing. We configure the app and show you live view and playback. Access away from home depends on the site having power and an internet connection. Where supported, we set up separate user accounts and permissions for family members or staff.

How long is footage kept?

Recording time depends on storage capacity, camera count, resolution, frame rate, and whether recording is continuous or triggered by events. We work backward from the retention period you need and size the recorder accordingly. Most systems overwrite the oldest footage when storage fills, so important clips should be exported before that happens.

Do the cameras work at night?

Yes. Professional cameras include infrared for dark environments or low-light color sensors that keep color detail down to very dim light. Some models combine both, and we pick the right one based on the location and ambient light.

Can you capture license plates?

We can plan dedicated license plate capture at suitable driveways, gates, and vehicle entrances. Camera position, vehicle speed, distance, lighting, and exposure settings all affect readability. A wide overview camera may show a vehicle without making its plate readable, so we assess the actual approach before recommending equipment.

Can you repair or upgrade my existing camera system?
